With its soft opening today (Sat), this DSS in-mall event which celebrates the art of storytelling runs until August 4 at the neo-classical shopping mall
World of Stories, a unique event designed around people's love of stories, opened at Mercato shopping mall yesterday (Friday). With a soft opening today (Saturday at 7.30pm) with all the characters coming on one stage led by the Pied Piper and colourful confetti falling on them, this DSS in-mall event will continue until August 4, from 4pm to 10pm, bringing famous characters and literary themes to life.
An entire array of customised shows, workshops and actual meet-and-greet corners have been installed. The neo-classical Mercato mall is transformed into a fairytale land where characters step out of storybooks and take centre stage to enthrall every one within the family. Pehla, FirstNet and Art bouquets will be giving away gifts to little visitors participating in the Interactive Statues Croner
Workshops and activities will take place on the first floor while the main stage will be situated on the ground floor of the mall. Other attractions during the eight-day event include colourful story parades and themed colouring workshops, where kids will learn to paint some of their favorite story characters using the easels, tables and chairs set up here.
Magrudy's has sponsored a story library for families to sit, relax and read some of their favourite books. Children can gather around grandma in the storytelling corner as she tells them favourite old fables. There will also be an education corner where children can develop their storytelling techniques. The education corner will also feature themed character parades, a large-sized pantomime book and actors performing a non-verbal play as a narrator reads the story aloud. All these elements together are sure to create a fun-filled week for both the young and the young at heart.
The event has been designed to appeal to the entire family. A Pied Piper will usher families through the stage, the workshops and all other events and activities taking place in the mall. He will also double up as a tour guide, playing a pivotal role in ensuring that visitors get a complete tour of the malls activities.
The 10-week long DSS, which opened with Ice Surprises week on June 21, celebrated the Arts Surprises Week, International Food Surprises, Adventure Surprises, Cartoon Surprises and continues with the weekly themes of Nature Surprises, Knowledge Surprises, Flower Surprises, Heritage Surprises and will conclude with Back-to-School Surprises on September 1.
