Celebration of 10th DSF offers half-a-million worth of cars daily plus mega cash prize of Dhs10 million to one winner
The annual Lexus Mega Raffle, the richest car raffle draw, is back with the biggest prize ever. For the celebrations of the special 10th DSF 2005, the raffle consisting of three luxury cars a day plus the mind-boggling Dh10,000,000 (dhirhams 10 million) grand prize totalling up to Dh33 million is yours to win.
The three Lexus cars are the LX 470 (4x4), the RX 330 and the ES 300, all costing over half a million dirhams. An attractive buy-back is offered by Al Futtaim Motors, the dealers of the luxury brand who are offering Dh220,000 for LX 470 (4x4) costing Dh250,000, Dh145,000 for RX330 priced at Dh169,000 and Dh115,000 for EX300 with a list price of Dh137,000. The winner has the option of either retaining the prize cars or selling them outright to the dealers.
The raffle tickets priced at Dh250 entitles the buyer to enter the daily draw as well as the grand draw. There are only 5,000 tickets per draw. The tickets are available round the clock from 40 select EPPCO/ENOC, petrol stations across Dubai. The first draw will take place on January 12, the first day of DSF 2005, and the final draw will be held on February 12, 2005. The tickets are also being sold at the Deira City Centre, the Gold Souq, Baniyas Square and Al Fahidi Street. The tickets will also be available at the new Global Village starting from January 12.
Ibrahim Saleh, DSF Chief Operations Officer said, "Celebrating a decade of the world's best shopping festivals, this is our biggest raffle draw not only in the region but the world at large with a total prize money of 33 million dirhams. This draw is expected to attract hordes of buyers who will be mesmerised by the prospect of winning not just one, but three Lexus cars and 10 million dirhams in cash which is considered a fitting prize for the most extravagant festival in history."
Some of the winners of the DSF 2004 Lexus draw were not only delighted by their win, but hope to participate again next time. "I usually share a ticket with a group of my friends, but for DSF2004 I decided to share it with just one friend, and we won! I remember just before the draw some of my friends chided me for buying odd numbers because it's the even numbers which bring luck, but thank God, we did win, and I hope to win again this year," says Fatin Al Wazir from Sudan who previously won a Lexus draw only to lose the ticket thereafter and not able to claim her prize. With this year's prize Fatin bought her dream house.
An Iraqi child Diar Ali Ismail Ibrahim claims that his name on the ticket was the lucky ingredient. "Thirty of us pool in to buy a ticket daily and I have always insisted on putting my son's name because I have been certain that he would bring us luck," says Ali Ismail Ibrahim, father of Diar. "With the winning, although we had to share the prize money among the 30 of us, we are happy that we won, and hope to participate again in the 2005 draw," he said.
For Zen Allah Khan from Pakistan, winning two Lexus vehicles still remains a shock, despite his participation six to seven times a year. "I have participated in the DSF raffles since its inception in 1996, but somehow never really expected to win. It was quite a wonderful experience, and one of the best things that happened to me," he said.
"It's wonderful to have your hope realised," says Mohammed Abu Al Najja who won the Lexus draw for the first time this year despite participating since its inception. "I had just bought myself a car before DSF. I wanted to buy my wife one as well, but we held on to the hope of winning one during DSF - and we did!" he says.
Often the tickets are written out in the names of loved ones. Mustafa Hussein Al Haiawi bought it in the name of his mother with little hope. "It was by sheer co-incidence that she happened to view the day's draw on TV and was amazed to hear the name being called up," recounts Al Haiawi. "I still remember how ecstatic she was when she called me in with the news.
"This is the first time we won anything during the DSF and as for the lucky money - well it went into a family villa in a stunning location and my mother is deliriously happy," he smiles.
