AT Labs a leading supplier of thin client solutions for both the enterprise and SMB, has announced an exciting new addition to its line of thin client products - the NetBook 7500 series.
With built-in support for WIFI, WiMAX and optional 3G the new NetBook can access centralized application without compromising security. AT Labs NB-7500 is one of the first wireless applications notebooks using thin client technology to support secure data access with server based computing.
Developed at ATLabs Dubai Silicon Oasis for AT Labs Worldwide distribution the NetBook is ideal for the mobile workforce wanting anytime anywhere access to corporate information. Based on Windows XP Embedded it is an ideal alternative to traditional PC Notebooks and application-specific mobile devices. It is the first secure thin client notebook based on the Intel Centrino chipset.
Compatible with Microsoft Windows Terminal Services and Citrix MetaFrame, ATLabs products provide access to the latest server-based applications, without the administrative and support costs associated with personal computers. Users have a choice of Citrix Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) or Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), as well as web browsers and terminal emulations (optional) for connection to Windows, UNIX, and MetaFrame servers, the Internet, and mainframes.
The NetBook 7500 is the result of collaboration between our engineering teams in Dubai, UAE and our Silicon Valley Headquarters with a focus on wireless mobility, said Mushtaq Mahmood, Director of Business Development of AT Labs, "As AT Labs continues to drive the thin client mobile market; I can envision the NetBook becoming a blackberry type device for corporate access to enterprise application."
Server-based Computing
Server-based computing provides for the ability to move applications to servers, and then use ICA or RDP clients to display them remotely without the requirement for a hard disk drive. The CPU and storage required to decode the ICA or RDP data is minimal, thus, the thin client device requires less processing power than a classic personal computer. Using this computing paradigm with a single point of update/back-up enables thin clients to be more secure, manageable, affordable and reliable than traditional PC Network- at a reduced TCO.
Features of the AT Labs NB-7500
Integrated wireless and wired LAN connectivity allowing customers to security connect to high speed wireless and wire networks - access your data wherever you are.
Enhanced security - with the NB-7500 all data files and applications are on the server, one point of management and no local storage.
Plug and play connectivity, easy to use and simple to manage users can install the thin client NetBook and connect right out of the box.
Includes a high performance processor that is ideal for running Internet Explorer, Macromedia Flash, Microsoft Media Player and Java.
