Dubai, March 2nd, 2006: Wipro, the global IT services major, provided Dubai Quality Group (DQG) members, with tools to adopt Six Sigma. Wipro conducted a day-long workshop on 'Six Sigma' for the members of Dubai Quality Group, a non-profit organization set up by the Department of Economic Development with the main objective of providing a basis for the exchange of knowledge among the business community. 

'Six Sigma' is a globally renowned quality standard which measures the amount of variation in a process. By reducing the variations, it ensures quality and consistency in organization's business processes.  

The workshop was held on the 12th of February, 2006 at Le Meridien hotel in Dubai.  Mr. Ramanath, General Manager - Consulting, Wipro and Mr. Anil Mathews, Principal - Integrated Business Process Improvements Practice, conducted the day-long workshop. Participants were given Wipro DQG certificates of participation. 

Ms. Samia Al Yousuf, Manager, DQG said, "Since its inception in February 1994, the DQG has grown to include over 1500 individuals representing over 300 prominent organizations from both, the private and public sectors in UAE. Wipro with its expertise in Six Sigma has contributed significantly and helped DQG in acting as a medium for exchange of knowledge among the business community here." 

Having started its Six Sigma journey in 1997, Wipro brings in a practitioners approach on the subject. It was the first IT Services Company in the world to achieve this feat. Wipro has carried out 850 live projects and integrated it into other quality initiatives like ISO, TPM, TQM and QS.

Over the years organizations world over have reaped the benefits of implementing Six Sigma in their business processes. Organizations have successfully adopted six sigma methodologies in various industry verticals which include banking, insurance, manufacturing, retail and telecom.
