"Wataniya Mobile" was the exclusive sponsor of the 2nd Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Day which was organized by the Alquds Open University and held at the Red Crescent Society's headquarters in Ramallah.
The event, which was attended by almost all ICT stakeholders in Palestine, showcased the latest ICT programs that are being implemented worldwide to support education and emphasized the importance of coordination between the public, academic and private sectors to achieve advancements this area in Palestine.
Participants in the ICT day's opening session included Allan Richardson, the CEO of Wataniya Mobile, His Excellency Mr. Kamal Hassouneh, the Minister of Telecommunications, His Excellency Dr. Mashour Abu Daka, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Soubhi Al Kayed, representative of the Ministry of Education and Dr. Younis Amr, the President of the Al Quds Open University.
In his opening remarks, Allan Richardson briefed participants on the latest developments with Wataniya Mobile emphasizing the wide impact that the launch of the company is expected to have on the Palestinian economy. Richardson also congratulated the Al Quds Open University for its unique achievements in adopting the latest ICT programs and assured participants that the company will be a leading private sector player in supporting Palestinian academic institutions.
The opening session was followed by a presentation by Eng. Imad Hodali from the Al Quds Open University who updated participants on the latest ICT projects launched by the university and how each allowed the university to now offer improved academic services to its students.
The event also included a presentation by Paul Wade, the Marketing Director of Wataniya Mobile, that covered the latest advancements in mobile learning applications. In his presentation Wade demonstrated the gradual adoption of new educational mobile applications in schools and universities worldwide, changing the previously negative perceptions on the role of mobiles in the academic process.
