Leading companies across the Gulf Region rely on Vision Solutions for high availability, disaster recovery and backup

Dubai, 18th October 2010 - Vision Solutions, Inc., the world's leading provider of information availability software and services for Windows, Linux, IBM Power Systems and Cloud Computing markets, today announced that Lamprell plc, one of the largest engineering, procurement and construction companies in the Middle East and Asia, has chosen to implement Double-Take® Availability as part of its overall business continuity strategy.

Lamprell's three primary facilities are in Port Khalid and the Hamriyah Free Zone, both of which are in the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, and in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, in the Emirate of Dubai. Data is replicated between sites over a distance of more than 60 kilometres. Lamprell uses Double-Take Availability to protect various applications including Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL Server. Double-Take Availability protects over 1,000 clustered Exchange mailboxes and users, in addition to protecting about 500 mailboxes that run from non-clustered Exchange servers.

Mr. Fred Fonseca, IT Manager at Lamprell commented, "A company like ours that depends on its Windows servers requires a dependable continuous system of data protection and a solid disaster recovery provider. Lamprell's Information Systems data is highly critical to our success as a business as the vast majority of projects undertaken in the UAE region are large-scale industrial construction projects. We chose to employ Double-Take Availability because of the numerous benefits it offers. The solution has proved to be reliable and is able to cope with any maintenance or disaster recovery situation using continuous replication, high availability and real-time data protection. Data is replicated extremely quickly over our high-speed MPLS network."

"The Middle East can be considered as a developing region where the infrastructure and the political environment are unpredictable and can have an impact on ongoing operations. Therefore, companies operating in the region require peace of mind," said Wouter Vancoppenolle, Regional Sales Director Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa at Vision Solutions. "Our solutions enable businesses to remain safe in the knowledge that they can rapidly implement recovery of critical business systems and cope with any maintenance or disaster recovery situation by using continuous replication, high availability and real-time data protection."

Lamprell has provided specialist services to the offshore and onshore oil & gas industry for over 30 years, and is one of a growing number of companies that are using Double-Take solutions in the GCC region to ensure that data is protected and that they have an adequate disaster recovery plan in place. Double-Take Availability has given Lamprell the peace of mind that the company requires. The solution provides a fast and reliable way of replicating servers hosting critical databases and applications in the most efficient and effective manner, wherever they may be located within the region.
