True multi-purpose Home Entertainment Centre works with TV or PC display

Totally versatile round case design looks great in any room, from any angle

Dubai, January 2 2007: Using its profound expertise in the development of AV-PC technologies, Sony recently announced the launch of the VAIO TP series; the ultimate Home Entertainment Centre designed to bring together the two worlds of television and computing seamlessly.

VAIO TP series

With its radical and unique round case measuring a mere 27cm across, the VAIO TP is completely distinctive and totally versatile. A choice of HDMI, VGA and DVI outputs makes connection to a BRAVIA HD-Ready TV or computer display simplicity itself. The power and signal cables are concealed as they pass underneath the side of the case, preserving the minimalist 360° styling perfectly.

Wireless networking means the VAIO TP can be added to a cable-free home network in minutes, and a carefully designed wireless keyboard ensures operating the system is as easy as setting it up. The keyboard is compact, comfortable to use and features an integrated notebook-style touchpad for complete control of the interface. A remote controller is bundled with the VAIO TP, so you can enjoy easy operations with Windows Vista Media Centre functions for playing music / movie files and DVD / CDs, as well as web browsing. The VAIO TP also has a standard wired LAN connection for easy connection to conventional cabled home networks.

Enormous care and attention has been paid to the design of the casing, from the lustrous finish of the top to the touch-to-open DVD drive. Instead of breaking up the elegant simplicity of the case with a small, hard to hit eject button, the drive opens when any part of the front of the tray is pressed. Below the drive, another touch-to-open sliding panel reveals key inputs including a multi card reader (SD and Memory Stick™) and 2 x USB flash drive slots which can also be used to connect directly to your digital camera and music player.

The designers have also achieved something you cannot see but will certainly appreciate. By using sophisticated sound damping within the case, the VAIO TP has been rendered virtually silent.

The VAIO TP is available at selected AV/IT outlets across the UAE and the other Middle East region. For more information, call 800-SONY (7669) or visit www.sony-mea.com/vaio
