United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and Techiesoft have signed a memorandum of understanding through which Techiesoft will donate software licenses to the Faculty of Engineering. Techiesoft will donate 120 permanent licenses for structural and engineering software for the use of undergraduate and graduate students at the university. The software will allow students to accurately design and analyse a number of different structures, from bridges to high rise buildings, and test the structural integrity of their designs.
Used worldwide, the software suite is used for the modeling and design of reinforced concrete, for modeling 2-D and 3-D structural systems for medium and high rise buildings, and also in the design of long span beams that are commonly used in bridges and convention centers. The software will allow the students to consider the effect of wind force and earthquakes on various types of structure and will also allow the Department of Civil Engineering to boost its research activities in this area. The software is regarded as the standard design software that is used by many governmental organizations, professionals, researchers and consultants in the area of structural analysis and design.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Khanbashi, the Vice Chancellor of UAE University, said:
"We are very pleased to announce the collaboration between UAEU and Techiesoft. As the leading university in graduate education and scientific research in the country, this software suite will allow us to continue to enhance our students' educational experiences. Furthermore, this agreement forms part of our commitment to continuing to contribute to the economic growth of the nation by developing our human resources capabilities."
Dr. Reyadh Almehaideb, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, said:
"This donation of software will help the Faculty and the Civil Engineering Program to enhance its resources, and help us achieve the highest quality of civil engineering education for our students. The software further enables them to accurately design a wide range of structures and will significantly benefit educational and research environments in the civil engineering disciplines and other areas within the Faculty of Engineering."
Mr. C.J. Ajayakumar, CEO & Managing Director of Techiesoft said:
"This contribution to UAEU is in recognition of the important and vital role of university in preparing civil engineers to meet the future challenges related to structural and construction activities in the country and the region. We are committed to supporting UAEU in its mission to provide high quality education."
