Dubai, 17/12/2003: Athena restaurants has opened the UAE’s first Greek fast food outlets at both the capital’s Abu Dhabi Mall and Sharjah’s Sahara Center.
The unique Athenian dishes on offer were selected by the restaurant’s Greek chef Periklis and customers have been especially fond of the serving of traditional Tzatziki salad that complements all the restaurant’s seafood and grilled cuisine.
Chef Periklis noted that Greek food has been well received by Arab consumers due to its Mediterranean flavors.
The fast food sector is witnessing a boom in the UAE. According to locally published industry figures, non-traditional fast-food sales in the UAE generate nearly $100 million a year and are increasing at an annual average rate of 25 per cent.
