Audit recognizes UAEnic's commitment in successfully complying with stringent International standards
Dubai, July 12, 2006 : UAEnic (United Arab Emirates Network Information Centre), the local Internet registry and (.ae) ccTLD (country code Top Level Domain) Administrator, sponsored by etisalat, has received the RIPE NCC (Rseaux IP Europens Network Coordination Centre ) Auditing Certificate after showing that it has followed all the policies and required procedures. This recognition is a singular achievement for UAEnic which validates its constant efforts in enhancing its infrastructure and processes in order to be in line with the latest international technology standards and best practices to serve the local and international Internet communities.
"As a long standing member of the RIPE NCC, UAEnic has shown great commitment in both the development of IP address policies as well as successfully administering the IP address resources in the UAE in accordance with international IP address policies and procedures", said Paul Rendek, Head of Member Services and Communications, RIPE NCC. "We look forward to a continued fruitful relationship with UAEnic, and congratulate them for successfully passing the recent audit."
The RIPE NCC is an independent, not-for-profit membership organization that supports the infrastructure of the Internet through technical co-ordination in its service region. The most prominent activity of the RIPE NCC is to act as the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) providing global Internet resources and related services to members in the RIPE NCC service region.

UAEnic has also succeeded in increasing the redundancy and resiliency of the .ae Name Servers by providing secondary DNS name service for the .ae domain in Europe through the RIPE NCC, in Asia Pacific thorough APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre) and in the US through the ISC (Internet Systems Consortium). This is a part of our commitment to increase the stability of the Internet in the UAE."
The number of domain names assigned by UAEnic registered an increase of 284 % in 2006 till date compared to the same period in 2002 .UAEnic has also developed a Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy which was endorsed by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) and which was the first in the region. UAEnic has also introduced a long period contract for Domain Names Registration, i.e. 3 years and 10 years, and introduced second level domains .pro.ae and .name.ae. In April 2005, UAEnic also launched a longer contract period of 50 years for Domain Name Registration.
