45% of the total surveyed consider energy-efficiency to be a key consideration

Dubai, UAE – UAE research released today by Beko, the leading European home appliances brand, has highlighted our key priorities when it comes to buying our home appliances.

The survey, conducted by YouGov, was sent to a thousand people across the United Arab Emirates to look at their purchasing habits when it comes to white goods.

Cost was a top priority, with 60% of those surveyed stating that cost was one of their top three considerations when making a purchase. This was their number one consideration when making a purchase, with more men (41%) than women (30%) using price as their key differentiator when choosing appliances.

Energy-efficiency also ranked high in the top three decision-makers, with 38% of the total sample listing this as a key factor when looking to purchase white goods. This was highest among families, with 31% of married couples with children ranking energy-efficiency as the top factor in the decision-making process.

Speaking about the research, Kürşat Coşkun, Head of Region for GCC, Middle East, Africa, Near East and Turkic Republics for Beko, commented: “We are seeing more and more customers in the UAE looking for better value across the retail sector, not just white goods. The transient nature of the population in the UAE also means that people are looking for cost-efficiency when furnishing their homes, with 40% of expats looking at best value as the key decision-making factor when purchasing large domestic appliances.”

Other key decision factors included special features, such as auto-dosing, shock freeze and Add Wash, with 55% of people surveyed looking at the extras and efficiencies offered by their appliances.
