Staff from Pure Technologies Ltd.-Abu Dhabi used innovative SmartBall and PipeDiver tools
Abu Dhabi, UAE; October 23, 2011: Three Pure Technologies Ltd.-Abu Dhabi engineers recently participated in a potable water pipeline inspection project in Ottawa, Canada as part of their continuing training.
Pure Technologies Ltd. is a Canadian company based in Calgary which utilizes innovative technologies for inspection, monitoring, and management of physical infrastructure.
James Buntag, operations manager, Conrado Fabian, service engineer, and Bernardo Guantia, project engineer are already experienced engineers in pipeline inspections. Their recent exposure in the use of the SmartBall and PipeDiver inspection tools will eventually benefit the company's clients in the Middle East as their competencies have been enhanced.
SmartBall is an innovative free-swimming leak detection technology designed to operate in a live pipeline. It is a free-swimming foam ball with an instrument-filled aluminum alloy core capable of detecting and locating very small leaks and air pockets in pipelines.
PipeDiver is a free-swimming platform for inspection of large diameter water and wastewater pipelines. It consists of a battery module, Electromagnetic module and a tracking module. The system is neutrally buoyant and has flexible fins that are used to center the tool within the pipe and provide propulsion. Its flexible design ensures that PipeDiver can easily navigate butterfly valves and bends in the pipeline while travelling long distances.
As the acknowledged global leader in the evaluation of water pipelines, the company provides clients with the information needed to fully understand the actual condition of their infrastructure. Based on these assessments, water supply system managers can establish a meaningful cost-savings plan for the rehabilitation and long-term maintenance of their lines.
Buntag has eight years experience in operations and project supervision of gravity and pressure pipeline projects, including oil and gas pipelines.
Since 1996 Fabian has executed project maintenance and supervision of long distance CCTV survey of potable water transmission pipelines using long range fiber optic tethered robotic cameras.
Guantia has many years of experience in pipeline construction. His engineering background and QA/QC skills will be an added advantage to the team as they prepare for upcoming in-line Electromagnetic inspection of large diameter PCCP water transmission pipelines.
