Dubai, UAE; February 23, 2015: The UAE operation of Tristar Transport LLC is certified for ISO 39001:2012 standard in recognition of the organization's Road Traffic Safety (RTS) Management System.

The company received the certification after a rigorous audit conducted by a team from the United Registrar of Systems (URS Certification) which is accredited with the UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).

ISO 39001:2012 specifies requirements for an RTS management system to enable an organization that interacts with the road traffic system to reduce death and serious injuries related to road traffic crashes. It provides a framework to help organizations reduce, and ultimately eliminate, the likelihood and risk of death and serious injury related to road traffic accidents.

It may be noted that Tristar is already certified for an Integrated Management System and is committed to adopt many best practices for its continual improvement.

Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne said: "Last year saw our successful re-certification of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 for another 3-year term. We also initiated certification for ISO 39001 which is a new ISO standard related to road safety traffic."

The requirements in ISO 39001:2012 include development and implementation of an appropriate RTS policy, development of RTS objectives and action plans which take into account legal and other requirements to which the organization subscribes, and information about elements and criteria related to RTS that the organization identifies as those which it can control and those which it can influence.

Last December 9, 2014, Tristar received the prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award in recognition of its extensive internal and external road safety programs. Mr. Mayne received the award in London from His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent who is also the Patron of the Commission for Global Road Safety.

In June 2014, Tristar launched a road safety awareness workshop for heavy duty drivers from all across the UAE who received first hand training on defensive driving from a road safety expert from UK-based Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). The campaign was endorsed and supported by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
