Exclusive line of portable and row-based air conditioning units keep mission-critical servers running seamlessly

Dubai, UAE -- Tripp Lite, a world-leading manufacturer of power protection equipment and connectivity solutions, has been promoting energy efficiency in data centres across the Middle East with its portfolio of free-standing portable air conditioning units SRXCOOL33K and SRXCOOL12K and remote management accessory SRCOOLNET.

Darwin Haines ,Tripp Lite's Vice President of EMEA and Asia, said the ICT industry has evolved immensely over the past years and their portable and in-row air conditioners, which maintain safe temperatures for mission-critical servers and other network equipment, have never been more relevant than they are today.

"Climate control in modern data centres is essential in a digital-dependent world. Compared with 10 years ago, demand for data centres is at a jaw-dropping rate today, fuelled by increasing connectivity, cloud computing and a rapidly growing population of users creating content and requiring on-demand resource delivery. Big data management has become the lifeblood of several businesses, which is why it is crucial to keep data centres running more efficiently," he said.

Aside from ensuring ambient room temperature and relative humidity in data centres, server rooms and network wiring closets, Tripp Lite's SRXCOOL33K and SRXCOOL12K also allow peak performances and productivity by maintaining optimum temperatures for sensitive servers, routers, hubs, UPS systems and switches. Tripp Lite also took their cooling solutions up a notch through SRCOOLNET, a compactly designed web-enabled accessory that give IT managers the ability to remotely adjust fan speed, cooling temperature and dehumidification modes over the Internet.

SRXCOOL33K: ECO-FRIENDLY RELIABILITY

Behind every big data success story is a hardworking data centre. And as this hub goes beyond mere server and hardware hosting to actually offering in-service features such as virtualisation, cloud computing, data recovery and even hybrid data centre extensions, the temperature within the centre could significantly rise, further compromising performance and raising cooling costs.

Power consumption also increases as temperatures rise. Considering this concern, Tripp Lite responded with the energy-saving SRXCOOL33K portable cooling solution. Measuring 199.39 x 60.02 x 109.22 (height, width and depth in centimetres) and weighing around 317.5 kilograms (kgs), this floor-standing unit costs up to 38% less per BTU (British thermal unit) of cooling capacity than its leading competitor (based on ERP), and even less when installation costs are considered as the SRXCOOL33K requires zero start-up service or electricians.

Delivering 33,000 BTU (9.7kW) of efficient, reliable cooling in a 42U rack form factor, it features cutting-edge components that limits an inrush current and enables precision cooling adjustments to minimise power consumption, maximise cooling and improve application efficiency. By providing cooling power in the cold aisle, the SRXCOOL33K promotes temperature uniformity from 1U to 42U, allowing equipment to perform at its peak.

Controlling the unit is a cinch with its convenient LCD control panel and network interface that provide local and remote monitoring and control of temperature, humidity, fan speed, alarms and logging via front-panel buttons, SNMP, Web, telnet/SSH or the included Modbus card. A DC-inverter-driven compressor and microprocessor-controlled electronic expansion valve (EEV) also enables precision cooling adjustments that eliminate wasteful, noisy cycling between off and full blast.

Maintenance is hassle-free due to the self-contained design, which requires no water collection tank or extra plumbing, while RoHS compliance and eco-friendly R410a refrigerant means data centre operators never have to worry about meeting environmental standards.

SRXCOOL12K: SPOT-COOLING INNOVATION

As demand for resource delivery escalates, even the most well-planned data centre can experience overheating. Tripp Lite's SRXCOOL12K has been designed specifically for supplemental area cooling, as well as off-hour and emergency cooling applications.

Compact, self-contained and portable, SRXCOOL12K provides 12,000 BTU of cooling power that can easily reduce temperature in a 500-square-foot room. Aside from data centres, it is ideal for use in servers and wiring closets, home and small business offices, conference rooms, warehouses, entertainment centres and other venues with heat-sensitive equipment that facility air conditioning cannot reach. Measuring 77.8 x 30 x 50.5 (HWD in cm) and weighing around 33.5kgs, the unit has four built-in casters that make it easy for anyone to transfer it from one area of the room to another where spot cooling is needed. It features a standard louvered vent (for general room cooling) and a directional ducted cooling vent (to direct cold air where most needed) are provided. A directional exhaust duct safely removes hot air from the room.

The SRXCOOL12K runs on household current (220-240V AC input) and requires no special connectors or adapters. Aside from adjusting ambient room temperatures, it can also dehumidify and filter the air, providing better air quality for enhanced equipment performance with minimal noise and power consumption. A built-in timer enables the unit to be programmed for unattended start-up and shutdown. Controls and displays are conveniently mounted on the top panel. With the optional added accessory of the SRCOOLNET, this communication port allows users to monitor temperatures, receive alerts, review logs and control settings from any location.

Like its SRXCOOL33K cousin, the SRXCOOL12K uses environmentally friendly R410a refrigerant. It has a built-in evaporator that expels the condensed water through the exhaust duct, so there is no need for a drain tube, drain pan or water collection tank.

SRCOOLNET: UNIT THAT PACKS A PUNCH

Taking its cooling solutions to the next level, Tripp Lite designed SRCOOLNET, which at just .32kgs and with dimensions of 9.4 x 19.5 x 16 (HDW in cm) is a nifty device that comes with massive features. SRCOOLNET gives IT managers the convenience of monitoring temperature and humidity in small server rooms and wiring closets; providing them with the ability to remotely adjust fan speed, cooling temperature and dehumidification modes over the network. This web-enabled unit also gives users the added benefits of receiving alerts, accessing logs, changing settings and automating operation from remote locations.

The SRCOOLNET adds remote SNMP monitoring and management capabilities to Tripp Lite's updated SRCOOL12K and SRXCOOL12K portable air conditioning units. It delivers user-friendly cooling solutions that are easy to install and operate and ideal for off-hour or unattended cooling application.

The unit also promotes energy efficiency with its built-in EnviroSense module that can be used instead of the temperature sensor within the SRXCOOL12K to monitor ambient conditions and to control the temperature set point of the SRXCOOL12K. This helps ensure that air supplied to important equipment is at or below a target temperature. SRCOOLNET's EnviroSense module can monitor temperature and humidity in locations up to 12 feet away from the portable AC unit, allowing its operation to be tied to the conditions of a device or rack enclosure in another part of the room.
