Women at Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community take top honours at recent hospitality industry awards

Led by general manager, Elaine Watson, the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community walked away from the region's top travel trade event, the Arabian Travel Market, with three prestigious industry awards.  The hotel picked up two MENA Gold Awards with Best Business/Corporate Hotel - 4 Star and Best New Business Hotel of the Year - 4 Star, while the property's financial controller, Claudia Nazzal, won the DEPA award for Young Hotelier of the Year.   The accolades follow closely behind Elaine Watson's own recent honour of the company-wide General Manager's Sales Excellence Award from Marriott's Select Service Hotels.   "The Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community continues to forge ahead, setting standards for our niche market with excellent stride," said Elaine.  "I am very proud of these awards and extremely happy for Claudia's win as DEPA's Young Hotelier of the Year."

The first female General Manager to join Marriott in the Middle East, Elaine successfully launched the Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai Creek - the first of this brand in the Middle East. Elaine now leads the team at the first Courtyard by Marriott Brand in the UAE and the second Marriott Executive Apartments.

Twenty-six year old Claudia's dedication to both business results and guest/employee satisfaction contributed to her winning the coveted award of DEPA's Young Hotelier of the Year.  Personal growth and high achievements are par for the course as the first and youngest female financial controller for Marriott in the Middle East, and Claudia sees her award as confirmation of these achievements.

"A new breed of hoteliers is on the rise as a feminine influence is about luxury and comfort, not to mention attention to detail," said Claudia.  "What was once a male stronghold, the hospitality industry is opening up leadership roles for women with vision and talent to lead."
