Sharjah: More than 5,000 students from various schools in Sharjah have so far visited ‘Travelling Bricks’, a one-of-its-kind exhibition of 88 models created using around a million Lego bricks. The exhibition organised by Al Majaz Waterfront, one of Sharjah’s tourist, leisure and family destinations, and located near Al Rawi Café, the exhibition is open until 1 March, every day from 4:00 - 10:00 pm.
The many sculptural wonders – including a Boeing 747 and a 7-metre LEGO replica of the Titanic - have been drawing visitors from all walks of life to experience this outsized world of wonder and fantasy at Al Majaz Waterfront.
Workshops for school students
The exhibition also features workshops for school students, offering them the opportunity to build their own Lego creations, explore innovative techniques of making Lego sculptures and learn about each individual model through their unique behind-the-scenes stories.
The Robotics for Juniors workshop targets students aged 6 – 9 years. It offers them an introduction to the world of robotics by teaching them to build a robot with Lego bricks and programme it.
The Advanced Robotics workshop for students aged 10 years and above, introduces participants to basic robotics programming skills, and teaches them how to navigate a maze with their Lego robots.
In the Coding workshop, also designed for students above age 10, participants will learn how to code a ‘Microbit’. They will be taught to code a wearable gadget that counts physical activity and exhibits the results through an animation display.
