The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA), represented by the Centre of Digital Innovation (CoDI), won the "Best Endpoint & Mobile Device Security Implementation" award at the Gulf Information Security Expo & Conference - GISEC 2015. CoDI nominated the Mobile Application Testing Lab (mLab) for the award, where the ceremony concluded in Dubai yesterday.
The Centre of Digital Innovation (CoDI), an mGovernment initiative, developed the state-of-the-art Mobile Application Testing Lab (mLab) to boost consumer confidence in the UAE's government mobile applications. With the target audience being government entities and UAE-based universities, it was essential to have a secure, mobile accessible testing mechanism.
The Center aims to increase efficiency and effectiveness of government mobile service design and delivery through a dedicated laboratory providing mobile applications testing service. The Center drives innovation through collaboration and investigates new methods for building and delivering smart government services.
The IT Security Awards were a highlight of the GISEC 2015 conference, where organizations nominated their projects and a committee of judges reviewed the nominations and selected winners based on innovation, improving performance & efficiency, reducing cost, data security enhancement and value realization. Amongst the organizations present at GISEC 2015 were the UAE Ministry of Interior, Etisalat, Dubai Smart Government, Ministry of Finance, Dubai Islamic Bank, Crown Prince's Court - Abu Dhabi, Emaar, Kuwait International Bank and King Saud University.
"The TRA is delighted to participate and contribute to GISEC 2015, particularly as we witness the high speeds of development in the IT and Security fields. GISEC is the regional large-scale information security platform, assembling industry, government and thought leaders to tackle threats, issues and countermeasures.
