Abu Dhabi - International energy group Total will be showcasing its affiliate SunPower's solar solutions, technologies and projects at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2015, to be staged at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 19-22 January.

Total has supported the WFES since its inception in 2008 and is a Platinum sponsor of this year's event, which is being held under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Total will be exhibiting in the Atrium, where visitors will have an opportunity to discover more about Total's latest new energies developments, principally in the fieldsofsolar energy and aviation biofuel.

Experts from SunPower will be on hand to discuss their latest solar power developments and outline Total's significant involvement in this proven and growing renewable energy sphere.

Among the attractions on the Total stand will be a live demonstration of SunPower's robotic cleaning solution, designed to increase solar panel efficiency and lower maintenance costs, most specifically in the drier Middle Eastern conditions, and a model of SunPower's OASIS C1 solar power plant - which has a 25% higher efficiency than conventional systems.

There will also be a user-friendly touch table featuring case studies of Total's key new energy projects. These include MASDAR City in Abu Dhabi;DUBAL in Dubai;Project Salvador in Chile; the Solar Star photovoltaic plant in California;and Shams 1, the 100-megawatt solar-thermal project, located in the UAE's Western Region.

Away from the exhibition stand, Total representatives will also be participating in the associated WFES conference programme:

Vincent Schächter, Total's VP R&D New Energies, will take part in the panel session "How are energy leaders rising to the challenges of delivering tomorrow's energy sustainability?" from 14.30-15.15 on Tuesday 20 January.

Jorg Heinemann, SunPower's EVP for Global Power Plants, will take part in the keynote panel session "Lessons learned from solar & wind projects around the world" from 10.00-11.00 on Thursday 22 January.

Speaking about Total's involvement at WFES 2015, Stephane Michel, President of Total MENA, said: "Total is a diversified energy group and we see New Energies, particularly solar power, as an important element in our portfolio of balanced energy technologies. Our solar affiliate, SunPower, is a world leader in the solar industry with more than 5 GWdeployed worldwide; it is currently building the world largest solar power plant in the USA.

As a very long-standing partner of Abu Dhabi and the wider Gulf region,Total is keen to assist Governmentsin host countries to achieve their own targets of a morediversified energy mix in the future. We see WFES 2015 not only as an opportunity to support a major Abu Dhabi based event, but also to demonstrate our technological and operational expertise in the increasingly important renewable energy field."
