Mohammed Jassim: "It reaffirms the importance of the human factor"

Dubai 24 December 2007: The Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development (DIHRD) hosted the management training Guru, Tom Peters, who addressed ministers, leaders and decision makers in Dubai.

The conference held at Park Hyatt, Dubai was entitled "Leadership's Challenges: Talent Management, Productivity, and Profitability".

The conference was also an opportunity to thank DEWA and RTA for their commitment to sponsor this event, in front of more than 250 participants, including ministers, leaders and decision-makers, such as H.E. Dr. Anwar Gargash, H.E. Tareq Lootah, Mr. Ali Bin Abood, Mr. Yousuf Abdul Ghani and Mr. Khaled Al Jallaf, to name a few.

Addressing the conference, H.E. Nabil Alyousuf, Chairman of Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development welcomed the audience by saying: "Dubai institute for Human Resources Development promised us an enlightening and professionally enriching experience and I believe that Tom Peter's input is essential to fulfill the requirements of Dubai Government Strategy 2015".

Mohammed Jassim, Chief Executive Officer of DIHRD, said: "it is the mandate and passion of DIHRD to further develop the human resources managers in both the private and public sectors, and this conference in particular reaffirms the importance of the human factor in a changing world".

During the day long conference, the participants were introduced to dealing with people from a management guru perspective reaffirming the importance of the human factor in any business success, regardless of technology advancement.

In the second session, entitled "Everyone a Star, Everyone an Entrepreneur", Peters revealed the secrets of entrepreneurship and the importance of nurturing this spirit.

 A more focused session on human resource managers' challenges, was the third session, "It Starts and Ends with HR", which is based on the assumption that HR, according to Peters, is not "getting it".

Peters discussed the importance of putting the right person who has the right skills in the right place at the right time, revealing that this could be easily realized when internal talent pools are available.

The last session of this conference focused on the growing role of leaders and the importance of having leadership that develops talents and creates passion and high dedication which contributes to higher productivity levels and consequently to an increase of profits and financial returns.
