More than 10,000 women have joined Women Appreciation Month, a Femi9 initiative on Facebook.

Jeddah, April 4, 2011 Inspired by the words of King Abdullah during his interview with American TV station ABC, where he clearly stated the importance of women in our society, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques famously said: "I believe strongly in the rights of women ... my mother is a woman, my sister is a woman, my daughter is a woman, my wife is a woman."

Femi9 recognized the important meaning behind these words and took it as its responsibility to spread the message of King Abdullah to the nation by celebrating Women Appreciation Month (WAM).

Speaking at a press conference at the launch of Women Appreciation Month, Mr. Eyad Abdullah Mashat, CEO, Fad International and Founder of Femi9, said: "Femi9 has organized Woman Appreciation Month to reflect the message behind the words of our beloved King Abdullah. Our company's CSR initiative is our way of recognizing and appreciating the role women play in our lives and society."

Furthermore, to ensure lasting accomplishment Femi9's WAM CSR project features two exceptional initiatives that contribute to women's education and empowerment.

On behalf of his company Mr. Mashat announced that Femi9 is granting 30 scholarships in the form of a one-year fashion design program for women that will include practical experience in a real time fashion design studio. On completion of the one-year training program, Femi9 will hire the top five students out of the 30 to work as junior fashion designers at the Femi9 in-house design studio. Selection of the 30 candidates for the scholarship will be done online through the Femi9 Facebook fan page.

This initiative by Femi9 is very much appreciated by Maha Taher, the well-known social worker, who said: "This is a ground-breaking initiative that makes a constructive contribution to women's employment. The scholarships open a new window of opportunity for talented women to excel in a field that offers a rewarding outlet for their creativity."

Another surprise from Femi9 bag was the announcement of the inauguration of the Femi9 Woman Appreciation Month Recognition Awards for the best women achievers in 2010.

The WAM Appreciation Awards include six categories: Best Woman Social Worker; Best Woman Teacher/Lecturer; Best Young Woman Entrepreneur; Best Woman Government Employee; Best Woman Media Personality; and Best Woman Doctor. Selection of the best profile for each category will be made after an online poll on the Femi9 Facebook fan page.

The awards are being presented by Femi9 as a unique and inspiring way of acknowledging and recognizing the important role of women in our lives and in our society

Commenting on the WAM Awards, writer and lecturer, Reem Assad said: "The wide spectrum covered by the six categories shows thoughtful and careful selection by Femi9 and will highlight the important role played by women in each of their chosen professions."

At the press conference Mr. Mashat presented prizes to the Jeddah and Makkah winners of the Femi9 "Who is she?" competition, which was held on Facebook to promote King Abdullah's message and as an initiative to fulfill Femi9's responsibility towards women's welfare.

Mr. Mashat concluded the launch ceremony by thanking the brand marketing strategy consultant Mr. Said Aghil Baaghil for his strategic contribution to the initiative.

Throughout Women Appreciation Month Femi9 will be giving away more than 100,000 scarves featuring King Abdullah's quote. The scarves will be available at all 55 Femi9 stores along with greeting cards for mother, sister, daughter and wife and a booklet about famous women achievers in history.
