Dr Salwa AlKaabi becomes one of the youngest paediatrician globally to pass the prestigious Membership of the Royal College Paediatrics and Child Health examination

Tawam Hospital, the affiliate of Johns Hopkins Medicine and part of the SEHA healthcare system, announced today its residents sitting the final Membership of the Royal College Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPHCH) examination achieved a 100 per cent pass rate - an outstanding feat for the institution and sealing its position as a leading regional healthcare institution and teaching hospital. The average pass rate in the UK is between 20 per cent and 40 per cent.
The successful examinees are: Dr Aisha AlKaabi, Dr Salwa AlKaabi, Dr Noura Al Hassani and Dr Aysha Shattaf.
Dr. Salwa AlKaabi now holds the honour of being one of the youngest paediatrician ever to pass this prestigious examination even before completing her residency training. Dr AlKaabi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University with a degree in Medicine and entered Tawam's Paediatrics Residency Programme after completing her rotating internship in September of 2010. She also achieved the highest score in the UAE in the American Board of Paediatrics In-Training exam and is the first resident in the history of Tawam Hospital to receive the Customer Service Award. A true achiever, Dr AlKaabi was also named best senior resident for two consecutive years. Currently, Dr AlKaabi is the Chief Resident of the Paediatric Residency Program at Tawam Hospital.
Other successful candidates Dr Aysha AlKaabi and Dr Noura AlHassani are both currently serving Tawam Hospital as specialists in General Paediatrics and Endocrine, respectively. Dr Aisha Shattaf was a former Tawam Hospital resident who is now with Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah as a specialist.

Receiving a new Tomotherapy machine, and installing its own state-of-the-art bilingual Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) integrating voice, text and email communications, to increase customer service levels. In terms of recognitions, Tawam Hospital earned a number of accolades in 2013, including: positive accreditation for Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency programs at Tawam Hospital Academic Affairs, Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award, JCIA Accreditation for IVF/Cardiology Service and Tomotherapy, and many others. Tawam Hospital also successfully performed the first case of bilateral simultaneous carotid stenting in 2013.The hospital has also undergone physical expansion with the increase in parking spaces in 2013, and introduction of a valet parking service in 2014. Work is underway on Surgical and Medical Wards to provide a single room for each patient to provide more privacy, as well as the refurbishment of the Emergency Ward.
