A new start for 2015

Cairo - January. 28, 2014

In light of the Banks strategy to attract the world's best calibers and experts, Barclays Bank Egypt has appointed Tarek Elrefai for the position of General Manager. Elrefai enjoys a track record of significant achievements, while holding leading positions in a major US bank, last of which was Middle East and Africa Managing Director &Head of Global Client Management.

Thanks to his unrivaled experience whether in Egyptian or regional markets, Tarek is highly trusted to be capable of driving the bank forward, acquiring more growth and prosperity," said, Ed Marks, Managing Director of Barclays Egypt.

Over 26 years, Tarek Elrefai successfully contributed to the banks overall business growth in MENA region.  His efforts extended to several countries, including Egypt, Gulf, and other Arab countries. He was promoted to Managing Director in 2006 in recognition of his outstanding performance.  In January, 2010, he was once again promoted to Managing Director and Head of Global Client Management in Middle East and Africa. 

The appointment of Tarek Elrefai as General Manager of Barclays Egypt is not the first change across the bank's management over the last period.  Last December, Hazem Hegazy - who also enjoys a track record of accomplishments in the banking sector spanning more than 24 years - was appointed as Consumer Banking Director
