Dubai: The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), under the umbrella of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, is supporting the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. Suqia, in cooperation with Mai Dubai, provides 38,000 water bottles to around 7,000 athletes in the world’s largest humanitarian sports event. The water bottles are provided to delegations during their commutes throughout the Olympics, which run until 22 March 2019.
“We are proud to support the Special Olympics World Games, which Abu Dhabi is hosting for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa. The UAE’s hosting of this global event emphasises our wise leadership’s great interest in people of determination and integrating them in society. It also underlines the UAE’s approach that is based on tolerance and human connectivity in the footsteps of our Founding Fathers who instilled these noble values and principles in the hearts of Emiratis. The UAE is a leading country in integrating people of determination in society to achieve their happiness in a conducive environment that allows them to unleash their capabilities and potential. This supports the ‘National Policy to Empower People of Determination’, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create an inclusive society that ensures empowerment and a decent life for people of determination and their families,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Suqia.
