Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, August 5th, 2009 (ME Newswire): H.H Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Member of the Executive Council, chaired the Executive Committee meeting held on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court on behalf of H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Member of the Executive Council, where it adopted the project submitted by the Abu Dhabi Police General Directorate concerning the development of Khatam Al Shakla border crossing in Al Ain.

The committee has also adopted two projects submitted by the Department of Municipal Affairs concerning a mechanism to increase the area of land and properties in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the project for documenting and enhancing work procedure at the Department, which serves the Abu Dhabi Municipality, Al Ain Municipality and the Western Region Municipality.

The project to improve work procedure at the Department of Municipal Affairs is set to create a positive qualitative leap on the economic and social levels, especially in the area of enhancing provided services, which in turn will increase customer satisfaction and boost efficiency, leading to cutting down on operating costs and achieving financial sustainability for the different municipalities. The project is also set to significantly contribute to increasing Abu Dhabi's national wealth.

The Executive Committee has also approved the draft budget and organizational structure for the Abu Dhabi Center for Housing and Service Facilities Development. It has also approved the marine transportation project submitted by the Department of Transport, concerning the provision of a means of transportation to and from the island of Dilma, in order to facilitate the movement of island residents to the neighbor cities.

The Executive Committee also discussed a number of important topics and memoranda listed on its agenda relating to the implementation of plans and projects, and service development which were submitted by various government departments in Abu Dhabi.
