Company to assist Qatar in expansion of telecom infrastructure

Telecom & Power products sold in over 25 countries in Middle East & Africa

Dubai, November 22, 2006: Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd., India's only global provider and integrated manufacturer of optical fiber announced that it has received a contract of US$ 5 million for manufacture and supply of Copper Telecom Cables to Q-Tel, Qatar. Deliveries scheduled over the next 3 years, are expected to commence within December 2006.

This contract is follows close on the heels of successive wins in the Middle East & Africa, with Sterlite's Telecom & Power Products being sold in over 25 countries in the region. In order to enhance customer support within the region, the Company recently set up a sales office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Some of Sterlite's successes within the Middle East and Africa include manufacture and supply of Telecom Cables to Sudan Petroleum Construction Company (SPCC) and Takreer (UAE) to name a few. Sterlite has also successfully executed supply contracts for Power Transmission Conductors to companies like KEC International and Bahwan Engineering for infrastructure projects in Middle East and Africa.
