Tarek Zidan, managing director of Starnet, a subsidiary of Raya Holding, announced that following Starnet's slogan " Make a Wish", the company has recently launched its ISDN service which caters mainly to small and medium sized companies and professional Internet users that need a faster Internet to allow them to execute theirbsiness in adequate time using cost effective service. This service is the newest Starnet service in addition to the existing prepaid service (Starnet Scratch Cards) and post paid Starlife service (direct dial up, no username or password).
Zidan explained that the ISD service is an additional option on the normal phone that turns it from the slow analog mode to the fast digital mode which also allows connecting to several communication devices on the same line and making to calls in the same time, with a speed that is quadruple the normal speed.
Zidan also added that the ISDN line is also used as cost effective backup for the internet leased line and allows the establishment of local area networks (LAN) and transfereing information from one network to the other which are all basic needs for any company. Starnet offers presales services 12 hrs/day and aftersales services 24/7 through a team of professionals in the technical supports department. Starnet also sells the digital equipment required for the ISDN feature like the NT Unit which is the basic unit that performs the phone transfer from analog to digtal. The company offers this service with either 64 or 128 kb/sec and for a contract duration ranging from one month reaching one year with on unlimited hours basis.
Medhat Khalil, chairman and CEO of Raya Holding commented that Starnet works within the groups strategy to increase the electronic interaction in Egypt. The strategic plan includes offering Internet services, building a strong data infrastructure through investing around 200 MLE in a nationwide public data network, as well as establishing training facilities for Internet users, This plan is pursued aggressively among Raya Holding subsidiaries within a comprehensive integration model to provide for the best scope of offerings.
