Cardholders to get fitness and health benefits
Standard Chartered, one of the UAE's leading international banks, has issued a special Visa credit card to commemorate the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon 2006, which will now take place on Friday February 17.
The latest in a series of sports affinity credit cards created by the Bank, will see cardholders receive a host of fitness and health-related benefits, including free entry into the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon 2006 three kilometre fun race in addition to normal cardholder benefits.
"Sports affinity credit card products which have benefits directly relating to the interests of cardholders have now become a speciality of Standard Chartered. Other affinity cards that include Cricket, Soccer and the recently launched Golf Credit cards have become very popular with customers and this latest offering steps up the pace even further," said Owen Belman, Consumer Banking Head, Standard Chartered Bank UAE.
Special benefits accruing to cardholders include: a free HR2G06 Speedo heart rate, calorie and fat burn monitor watch worth AED 500; a trial voucher for the Griffins Health Club at the JW Marriott Dubai as well as discounts at the health club and at the hotel's Champions outlet; vouchers for complimentary classes and discounts at the Artistic Yoga Centre, great discounts at all Paris Gallery Day Spas throughout the UAE and a free Visa Mini Supplementary Classic Credit Card.
A social benefit of the card is that for each one activated, Standard Chartered will donate AED25 to its 'Seeing Is Believing' charity, which aims to restore the sight of one million blind people over the next three years.
"Signing up for this credit card not only brings benefits to shareholders but allows them to contribute to one of the most worthwhile causes around - sight restoration," added Belman.
The Standard Chartered Visa Marathon Credit Card follows hard on the heels of recent niche products meeting the needs of golfers, soccer fans, the small-to-medium-business sector and the UAE's huge cricket following.
"The Standard Chartered Visa Cricket Card was our first venture into the vertical credit card sector and the overwhelming response it received gave us the confidence to continue diversifying our product range with specialised offerings," said Belman.
Standard Chartered Bank is one of the UAE's largest credit card issuer.
