Bernab has been with the Kempinski group for over a decade, joining Europe's most prestigious luxury hotel operator in 1998. He has since held several management positions, including Food and Beverage Manager at the Grand Hotel Europe in St Petersburg, going on to fill the role of Resident Manager at Kempinski Estepona, before becoming Director of Food and Beverage at Kempinski's flagship property in Istanbul, the Ciragan Palace Hotel.
An astute hotelier, Bernab was later appointed GM of Kempinski San Lawrenz Resort & Spa in Malta, followed by Kempinski Hotel Julaia in Kuwait his last assignment prior to this posting.
A Spanish national, Bernab studied finance in Madrid and Massachusetts and was trained in hotel management at the Hotel Institute in Montreux, Switzerland. He also obtained an MBA in France.
Bernab is excited about the move to Jordan and is looking forward to the hotel's scheduled opening later this year. Located in an oasis of calm on the shores of the Red Sea, and set within three acres of lush gardens, Kempinski Hotel Aqaba will feature 216 rooms, suites and cabanas set throughout the grounds. All rooms and suites within the hotel will enjoy sea views made possible by its unique curved, modern structure.
The hotel will offer a variety of international and regional dining options, including a Club Lounge and large deck with panoramic views over the Red Sea, as well as an exclusive nightclub. A wellness centre and spa can be accessed from the guest floors with a separate elevator, and a shopping arcade will house several exclusive boutiques. Moreover, The Kempinski Hotel Aqaba will have a large ballroom capable of seating up to 400 guests, theatre-style. With several further meeting rooms and a fully equipped business centre, the hotel offers a unique setting for business conferences as well as more intimate, family celebrations.
