Summary: The 2nd Annual Warehousing and Inventory Optimization event brings together top logistics leaders in the region along with key stakeholders to focus on the evolving role of the modern warehouse and latest trends in the industry.

Riyadh: The 2nd Annual Warehousing and Inventory Optimization event kicked off on a high noteon Monday. The high profile event witnessed global logistics leaders, key stakeholders and warehousing professionals engage in a dialogue on the evolving role of the warehousing industry  today. 

The event commenced with a 'Kick off Panel' which focused on the management's perspective on warehousing. The panel was moderated by Keith Newton, Secretary General at The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and the panelists included Fahad Khalid Bin Khunain – Director of Supply Chain Management at National Medical Care, Rupinder Singh Bedi – Senior Supply Chain Manager at Baskin Robbins and Abdullah AlGhamdi – Site Logistics Specialist at Sadara Chemicals. 

The pre-lunch sessions saw presentations dedicated to optimizing warehousing productivity through smart applications. James Jaichander – Vice President at Stellium stressed on automation being key to smart warehousing. Session titled 'Warehousing logistics decision making in KSA – Opportunities & Challenges' by Hashim M A Khan, critically examined the current state of the warehousing industry along with existing challenges and opportunities. 'Introduction to integrated standard solutions' by Ayman Alamar – Regional Sales Manager at SSI Schaefer, introduced integrated standard solutions which focused on increasing warehouse efficiency through integration and Andrey Kras, Account Manager at Daifuku spoke about 'picking solutions that work' which discussed streamlining and automation in detail.

The second half of the day featured sessions by Rupinder Singh Bedi – Senior Supply Chain Manager at Baskin Robbins who presented 'Introduction of warehousing capacity monitoring as a futuristic agenda in S&OP Forums', Mohamed Shahbaz Khan – Country Retail Capacity & Flow Planner (Retail Logistics) at IKEA who spoke on 'Improving operations efficiency and cutting costs through technology breakthroughs', Fahad Khalid Bin Khunain who presented 'The impact of lean on warehousing' and day ended with Keith Newton's presentation titled 'Better service with lower inventory- the demand driven opportunity. 

The sponsors and exhibitors also demonstrated innovative solutions and technologies tailormade for the warehousing industry to equip participating companies with smart warehousing solutions and better technological prowess. Univera and TFI are on-board as the Bronze sponsors for the event while, SSI Schafer, Daifuku and Bastian Solutions joined the event as Associate Partners. Stellium and Lodige partnered as the Lunch Sponsor and the Networking Partner respectively.

Today, the second of the event will witness relevant case studies, dedicated sessions on warehousing for industries such as chemicals and food and beverages, presentations on innovative tools for inventory optimization and a panel discussion titled '3PL: Adding Value Through Outsourcing' to be moderated by Ammar AlAboud – Supply Chain Engineer at Sadara Chemicals. 

The 2nd Annual Warehousing and Inventory Optimization event is being held at Novotel Riyadh Al Anoud, Riyadh and the two day event concludes on Tuesday i.e., 25th October 2016.
