3rd continual improvement & Innovation symposium

The 3rd Continual Improvement and Innovation Symposium aims to attract leaders and managers interested in improving business performance

Experts from different industries will showcase their successful case studies on cost reduction, product/service innovations and improvements

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - October 31, 2011: The Continual Improvement subgroup (CIG) of the Dubai Quality Group (DQG) plans to hold the "3rd Continual Improvement & Innovation Symposium" on the World Quality Day, celebrated on Thursday, November 17, 2011.

The Symposium is an annual event that uniquely contributes to facilitating exchange, recognition and learning from real-life examples of innovation and improvement strategies, tools and techniques applied in different organizations. During the event, professionals from different sectors will network to share best practices and learn from each other.

A key highlight of the symposium is the Live Competition, where teams will present case studies of successfully implemented projects to gain recognition and share their achievements. The competition covers four areas: Quality Quiz, Kaizen, Breakthrough Process Improvement (using methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean and BPR) and Innovation of Products, Services, Processes and Business Models.

The winners in the Continual Improvement & Innovation Symposium competitions will be decided on the basis of the quality of improvement in terms of creativity, thoroughness of implementation, replicability, actual benefits and performance of the contestants in the presentations and Q&A sessions. The jury includes experts and eminent personalities who have vast experience in continual improvement methods, tools and techniques as well as in business management. The audience will also benefit from the ideas of keynote speakers invited from various parts of the world, including "American Society for Quality" and "TRIZ Asia", who will share the most up-to-date thoughts, knowledge and information in the field of quality and process improvement.

Mr. Saleh Janeeh, Chairman, DQG, believes that the participation in the symposium will give real gains for companies wishing to enhance their performance. He pointed out that the symposium, through the presentations, competitions and networking opportunities will give stakeholders the right keys to improve the performance levels of their organizations.

He added: "The current level of interaction with DQG is very encouraging, since many participating companies are eager to put themselves on the journey of continual improvement and business excellence."

Mr. Sunil Thawani, Chairman, CIG, said that the continual improvement and innovation of business, products, services and processes is very important for the sustainability of organizations in current uncertain business environment. He added: "DQG and CIG always intend to improve the performance of businesses through diverse and innovative programs and activities which have proved their effectiveness in enhancing innovation, modernization and excellence."

Thawani appended that the group had successfully organized its previous two events in 2009 and in 2010. These events had similar competitions with an attendance of more than 150 delegates, who had expressed their appreciation for the experiences shared. The number of participants has grown from 4 companies from the UAE in 2009 and annualized savings of AED 2.25 million, to 9 organizations from the UAE in 2010 with annualized savings of AED 28.83 million in the case studies shared. This year we expect participation of around 20 organizations from diverse industries like banking, health care, manufacturing, travel etc. All case studies will be made available to the wider business community through the DQG website.

"This year's competition has been open for organizations not only from the UAE, but also from all over the world, and DQG will be pleased to invite more case studies and teams to participate in the Quality Quiz," the Chairman of the Continuous Improvement subgroup concluded.
