Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi was successful at the Gourmet Abu Dhabi Star Awards 2013 held on 20 February 2013, receiving two major accolades - "Restaurant Chef of the Year" for Alexandre Pernetta and "Food and Beverage Manager of the Year" for Moustafa El Gayar.
The two awards are in recognition of the significant contribution that the individuals have made to the development of the food and beverage industry in Abu Dhabi.
Alexandre Pernetta joined Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi's French fine dining Bord Eau restaurant in September 2011. Under his supervision, Bord Eau has received eight Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards and What's On Abu Dhabi Awards, including "Best French," "Chef of the Year" and "Restaurant of the Year."
Moustafa El Gayar, assistant director of food and beverage for the Shangri-La and Traders hotels within the Qaryat Al Beri complex, joined the pre-opening team of Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi in June 2007. He began as banquet service manager and shortly after, took the post of restaurant manager of the all-day dining Sofra bld. Having worked his way up, Moustafa ensures that the impeccable reputation of the food and beverage teams of both properties continues to shine in the dining scene of Abu Dhabi and the world.
