Salalah: Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), represented by Raysut Industrial Estate, organised on Monday a seminar highlighting the national resources existing in Dhofar governorate, under the auspices of His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, undersecretary of commerce and industry of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The event, which took place in Hilton Salalah Hotel, was held as part of a series of seminars organised by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates to raise industrial awareness among investors on the current scenario in Oman. The seminar gathered a number of businessmen, investors, industrialists, researchers and university and college students. The organisations which participated in the event included Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in addition to the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, and industrial and commercial enterprises' owners.

The seminar was moderated by Dr. Hesham A. Lotfy, Business Development Expert at PEIE. Participants in the session comprised Musallam bin Salim bin Ahmed Raafeet, director of fisheries affairs at the Directorate General of Fisheries in Dhofar, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries; Eng. Ahmed bin Awadh Jamaan Bait Saadan, director of agricultural development in the wilayat of Taqah, Directorate General of Agriculture and Livestock; Eng. Salim bin Bakheet Said Al Katheeri, head of research and geological surveys of the Directorate General of Commerce and Industry in Dhofar, Ministry of Commerce and Industry; and Eng. Salim bin Omar bin Ahmed Al Shanfari, director general of Global Mining Company and Global Gypsum Company.

Sustainable Development

"Dhofar governorate is gifted with a diversity of natural, mineral, agricultural, livestock and fisheries wealth. Therefore, we need to sustain our natural treasures through organising various events to boost efforts for optimal utilisation of national wealth across the country, and underline methods to ensure the preservation of the country's wealth," noted Said bin Ali bin Salim Al Maashani, Director General of Raysut Industrial Estate.

"This seminar attempts to stimulate industrial investment and encourage optimum utilisation of national resources in Dhofar governorate. These resources require a set of national strategies to be optimally utilised, preserved and developed for this generation and for generations to come," Al Maashani added.
