Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates : Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the UAE’s largest healthcare network, has been awarded the AAMEN certificate for compliance with the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Information and Cyber Security (ADHICS) standard. The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) launched the AAMEN audit program in November 2020 to ensure that all healthcare facilities in Abu Dhabi are compliant with the information security and data privacy standards needed to protect sensitive patient and healthcare data.

The ADHICS standard is a strategic initiative in support of the DoH’s vision as well as federal mandates and is endorsed by its Executive Committee. Required for all hospital and healthcare facilities in the emirate, SEHA received the AAMEN certificate on November 11th after an audit conducted by the DoH.

Complementing the UAE government’s initiatives on Health Information Exchange (HIE) towards greater security and public trust, the ADHICS standard is aligned with industry and international expectations on information security.

Bader Al Qubaisi, Group Chief Information Officer, Corporate Information Technology, said: “The adoption of the ADHICS standard will enhance data privacy and security in Abu Dhabi’s health sector. Our efforts in the last two years, achieved by the SEHA Corporate Information Security team alongside support from all departments across SEHA, supports the government’s objective towards enhancing cyber security.

“The AAMEN certificate recognizes SEHA’s efforts and commitment towards protecting digital and technology assets, and safeguarding patient data while providing healthcare services. Congratulations to our team on achieving this certificate of compliance as we continuously work with business partners from the region and beyond to implement best-in-class healthcare solutions for our nation.”

In the first quarter of 2020, SEHA’s Corporate Information Security team began implementing cyber security tools and solutions. It has since rolled out cyber security controls across all SEHA’s facilities as prescribed by the ADHICS standard and is carrying out continuous improvements.
