An initiative that will enhance security and passenger flow at check-in
Bahrain Airport Company announced today the introduction of a new advanced multi - level online screening system to scan outbound passengers' hold luggage, replacing the previous conventional screening equipment placed at the entrance of the check-in hall.
The new system is placed out of sight behind check-in counters (Baggage Make-up Area) and is designed to enhance security and significantly reduces congestion of travelers entering the check-in hall. Outbound passengers will already notice a much smoother flow into the airport with the phasing out of the old screeners.
The new screening system uses advanced security technology and processes whereby luggage inspection can go through up to five levels of checks to ensure no prohibited items board the aircraft. Such systems can only be found in leading international airports and has hence put Bahrain International Airport firmly amongst the most advanced airports in the world in terms of security and operational efficiency.
Bahrain Airport Company is committed to delivering the highest levels of operational efficiencies. Ultimately, the new screener will ensure smooth passenger movements throughout the Bahrain International Airport making it a more pleasing experience. With the installation Bahrain Airport Company is not only contributing towards this commitment, it is also improving security measures according to international aviation security standards and airport safety best-practices.
Continuous coordination is ongoing with the Ministry of Interior and Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) to ensure the optimal utilization of the new system. This is in line with the Company's philosophy of running one of the fastest and friendliest airports in the region.
This marks yet another milestone towards uplifting Bahrain International Airport and enabling it to compete on an international aviation arena. The ongoing progress has already gained recognition, most recently with the winning of the Skytrax Award for Middle East Airport of the Year 2010.
