Strategic Alliance with Business Layers, Inc. Enhances Identity Management and Adds Automated Provisioning
ORLANDO, Fla. - Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB), a global technology services company, today announced the enrichment of its DeXa.Badge security offering with the incorporation of Business Layers' eProvision Software for centralized identity management. Part of the Schlumberger DeXa Suite of Services, DeXa.Badge is a fully integrated corporate identity and physical/logical information security management solution. It will now include eProvisioning, a technology that efficiently and securely allocates and manages resources, such as email accounts, computers and office equipment, data and applications, for employees, contractors and business partners.
In a strategic alliance with Business Layers, Inc., Schlumberger will integrate Business Layers' eProvision Software as part of its DeXa.Badge corporate identity solution. This feature will benefit DeXa.Badge customers by providing streamlined access management between the employees and the applications, systems and digital assets that they use.
The joint solution from Schlumberger and Business Layers now enables customers to use DeXa.Badge as a starting point for managing provisioning, identity and access management to systems, applications and digital assets, such as laptops, PDAs, cell phones and other devices. Automated provisioning, or eProvisioning, complements the enterprise security policy. It provides companies with more effective identity management, flexible workflow functionality and comprehensive audit and reporting capabilities, while allowing employees to more rapidly utilize the business resources for which they are authorized.
"By 2006, about 60% of Global 2000 companies will have deployed a provisioning solution," remarked Bradley Hildreth, Research Director, Gartner, Inc. "With arguably a 10% market penetration currently, this means that in the next three years or so, we will see about 1000 companies buying a provisioning product."
"Provisioning can be one of the biggest administrative burdens within an organization," said Mauricio Arboleda, vice president, Information Security Solutions, Schlumberger Network & Infrastructure Solutions. "Business Layers' eProvision software will help us provide Provisioning solutions that are best-of-breed, and the Schlumberger DeXa.Badge solution can offer this secure identity management solution to customers anywhere in the world. It's a cost-effective and secure way to manage enterprise information and technology resources, saving time and maximizing efficiency."
The cost of managing these constantly changing user identities, access permissions and security authorizations is escalating, as employees come and go, move locations or change jobs within the organization. Business Layers eProvision Software empowers businesses to automate these functions thereby producing an immediate return on investment while increasing security throughout the enterprise.
"We're thrilled to extend our partnership with Schlumberger to expand the breadth of the Schlumberger security offering," said Izhar Shay, President and CEO of Business Layers. "Industry sectors such as transportation, oil and gas, retail, financial services and healthcare can now leverage DeXa.Badge with eProvision Software to provision, monitor and audit access to nearly every enterprise system. From entries to buildings, to access of computer rooms, to provisioning of sophisticated databases, VPNs, email, and even biometrics, we believe our joint solution is the most comprehensive and cost effective solution on the market today."
With a comprehensive provisioning solution, managers can identify the proper resources and access levels for each user through one, unified user interface that connects all access points on a system. New users start work faster and current users are granted access to new resources more easily, securely and efficiently, freeing the IT and HR departments to focus on core operations.
