DeXa.Net* Selected to Enhance Largest Regional IT Infrastructure and IP Telephony System for Emerging Global Markets
HOUSTON - Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB), a global technology services company, announced today that Dubai Internet City has chosen Schlumberger to implement the expansion of the Dubai Internet City computing network and Internet Protocol (IP) telephony system. Dubai Internet City is a commercial hub for the information and communication technology industries based in Dubai, a city-state in the United Arab Emirates.
Dubai Internet City (DIC), launched in 2000, houses a sophisticated high-technology office complex designed to support the growth of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) companies targeting emerging markets in the region. DIC represents the Middle East's biggest IT infrastructure and has one of the largest commercial IP Telephony systems in the world.

The DeXa.Net expansion implemented by Schlumberger will reinforce and enhance the existing computing and communications infrastructure for all the IT companies operating in DIC's cutting-edge office complex. The Schlumberger DeXa.Net solution applied at Dubai Internet City upgrades the network with high-end equipment and service, adding 1,800 ports for a total of 5,100. DeXa.Net also expands the existing IP Telephony system by 33%, allowing voice, fax, video and data transmissions in any application using a common network interface, improving quality and speed so that information is conveyed more efficiently.
