Following the success of Samsung's clamshell design mobile phones, new slider models will maintain Samsung's design leadership

Dubai, March 24th, 2004: Introducing the latest in mobile phone style and versatility, Samsung Electronics has launched the SGH-E800 and SGH-E810, the small “intenna” slide-up camera phones designed for ease-of-use and instant access to the latest in advanced mobile features.  SGH-E800 and SGH-E810 are able to capture vivid, true-colour images with a built in 300K pixel VGA camera. Images remain clear and sharp even when transferred to a PC.

“To meet the user’s demand for unique designs and fully featured communications, we are continuously introducing innovative products to the market. Following our clamshell-designed mobile phones, the slider design will maintain Samsung’s design leadership,” said Mr. B.W.Lee, President and CEO, Samsung MEAHQ.

The semi-automatic slide design and unique spring action, distinct to both the SGH-E800 and SGH-E810, allow the phone’s display to glide easily into position.
The SGH-E800 is lightweight (86g) and compact (87X 43X 23.5), with a stylish colorful two-tone finish. The uniquely designed SGH-E800 also incorporates a VGA camera, wide screen, 64 polyphonic ringtones and several user-friendly features like photo CLI (Call Line Identification) in phonebook. Although very similar to the SGH-E800, the unique features of the SGH-E810 include   a 180 degree rotating lens, which enhances the photo experience. Instead of a rotating lens, SGH-E800 has a small mirror to take self-portrait pictures.

On Samsung’s mobile phone leadership position, Mr. Steve Han, Senior Manager, Samsung Gulf Electronics stated: “Samsung’s vision is to be the leader in the mobile phone industry. The company has already achieved this position in Iran and we are very close to the top position in other markets in the region.”

Recent figures made available by leading European research group, GfK, put Samsung in leading positions across the Middle East, in terms of mobile phone sales: number one position in Iran and number two position across GCC countries including UAE and Saudi Arabia. Samsung also enjoys number two position in Pakistan.

The SGH-E810 also features a motion-JPEG function, allowing users to capture up to 30 seconds of video, as well as a Multi-Shot feature that can produce 15 consecutive shots. The special camera effect features include frame setting, tone control, self-timer and X4 zoom. The SGH-E800 uses a high-quality colour screen, wider than those available on most other mobiles on the market. Its screen is 1.72 inches wide and has a 65,536 colour  TFT LCD. The pixel resolution is up to 128 x 160, giving users bright and clear images.
