Hospitals across the UAE appraise revolutionary technology

Dubai, August, 30 2006: Samsung, one of the world's largest appliance and electronic manufacturers recently put to the test its technologically advanced Silver Nano washing machines within hospitals in the Emirates.

Sharon Evans, Director of Patient Servise at the International Modern Hospital in Dubai, stated: "The Silver Nano washing machine has commendable bacteria fighting ability. In hospitals, where health and hygiene are the primary concerns, we have to ensure that linen and clothing is free from harmful mould and bacteria. Clinical tests carried out on clothes washed in Silver Nano washing machines have revealed the remarkable health benefits of this technology."

Researchers at Samsung have invested great amounts of time and resources in the development of the Silver Nano technology. The ergonomically designed washing machines are fitted with silver-coated components. During the washing process, Silver ions are released which sterilize and deodorize the clothes. Silver as a metal is toxic to damaging pathogens but does not harm the human body in any way. The Silver Wash penetrates deep into the fabric and can destroy more than 650 types of germs and saprophytes (odour causing bacteria). The Silver Nano sterilising effect protects clothes from bacteria for up to 30 days.

Upon testing the silver Nano washing machine, all hospital officials were impressed. They observed that the Silver Nano technology sterilized clothes and linen, thus making them safe for use. The Silver Nano machine conformed to hygienic guidelines ensuring cleanliness in maternity wards where health and safety is particularly important due to the presence of new-born babies.

The Silver Nano technology is another groundbreaking innovation introduced by Samsung in its effort to become a socially conscious and responsible consumer brand. With recent fears surrounding the spread of communicable diseases, Samsung realises that mere function ability and design are not the potent factors to satisfy consumers' needs. Its latest product line, which incorporates the Silver Nano technology, ensures that customers can enjoy clean and healthy surroundings.

Mohamed Al Riche, Head of Promotion and Health Education Department at Nour Hospital in Abu Dhabi, commented on the test run carried out on the Silver Nano machines: "We were indeed surprised by the amazing results the machine delivered. Clothes washed in the machine showed no signs of bacteria or moulds. Our little patients in the maternity ward are well-protected from harmful germs because of the revolutionary Silver Nano technology."

Some other noteworthy features of Samsung's Silver Nano washing machines include the combination washer/dryer, low sound levels during operation, large capacity (10kg for wash and 6 kg for drying) as well as the convenient slanted drum. The durable appliances developed from the latest technologies, guarantee problem-free service for many years.

"Samsung has introduced the revolutionary Silver Nano technology to satisfy the health concerns of our customers," said Sanjay Gajamer, Senior Manager, Home Appliances Division. "Our product, which combines the best technology and superior design for convenient use reflects our commitment to using advanced technology for the benefits of our consumers."
