The hotels are nominated for this award by guests, travel agents or tour operators to participate in the prestigious World Luxury Hotel Awards. Voting is cast by a selected panel of 50 leading tour operators and travel industry consultants. Certificates and trophies are awarded to finalists/winners per category after votes has been cast each year, at the annual World Luxury Hotel Awards Gala Ceremony. The 2009 winner of Luxury Hotel category was Coco Palm Bodu Hithi, Maldives while Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi received the coveted trophy of Overall Excellence from the glitzy ceremony that was held in Thailand last month.
