Initiative part of DMI's Campaign to Heal Lebanon Wounds
Dubai: 25 July 2006 - Sama Dubai TV, one of the channels under Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), announced today it will conduct an opinion poll on the streets of the UAE to garner people's responses to the war in Lebanon.
The programme is part of the channel's participation in the campaign, "Towards Healing Lebanon's Wounds", initiated by DMI in cooperation with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Foundation, the UAE Red Crescent, and the Arab Media Group.
Abdullatif Al Gergawi, General-Manager of Sama Dubai TV said: "We are saddened by what is happening in Lebanon and wish to assure the Lebanese people that we are with them in their suffering.
"Apart from demonstrating our commitment to the cause of Lebanon, the campaign will also help us gather people's opinion on the war."
Sama Dubai TV will also conduct a fund-raising live telethon on Friday 28 July as part of DMI's Lebanon campaign.
DMI has set up a dedicated call center with the facility to receive 300 calls at the same time, allowing more people the chance to call in their pledge. Around 30 volunteers will be manning the call center to collect donations from the UAE and the region for this humanitarian purpose.
