IKCO second national car, Runna, will hit the market in Iran and four other continents simultaneously, in September 2011.

Javad Najmeddin, IKCO CEO in this regard said, "In order to develop its national brand, IKCO has designed this fair-price car based on the most recent standards."

It is the first Iranian car in design of which the requirements needed to meet pedestrian impact standard as well as Euro IV and V pollution standards have been regarded.

Besides European most recent standards, Runna meets four-star Euro NCAP safety index that ranks it in a good position among the cars in the same class.

In this ranking, safety indexes for the driver, passengers (adults and children) and pedestrians are measured.

IKCO second national car will be offered with a 1.6 liter engine and will be outfitted with Multiplex system, ABS (Antilock braking system), and front airbags.

Runna's final production volume will be 150000 units per annum, 25 percent of which to be dispatched abroad. IKCO is going to produce 15 to 20 thousand Runnas in 2011.

IKCO main plant is located in Tehran, the capital city of Iran. As well as its other three domestic production plants, IKCO holds production sites in Syria, Senegal, Azerbaijan, Venezuela and Belarus. Samand is IKCO's first product that is produced in its most domestic and overseas plants. Soren sedan and Sarir limo are different versions of Samand produced in these sites.

By producing Runna as its second car produced nationally, IKCO intends to increase production in overseas plants and diversify its product portfolio in global markets. The company has also set the goal to manufacture 75,000 cars in its overseas plants in 2011.
