Under the slogan "My Blood for You."

Dubai - 17 February 2008: In pursuit to enhance its responsibilities towards various segments of the society, the Public Transport Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently organized through its Quality, Health, Safety and Environment and in collaboration with the Blood Bank of the Health and Medical Services Authority in Dubai a blood donation campaign under the slogan "My Blood for You."

Engineer Essa Al Dossari, CEO of the Public Transport Agency reaffirmed the Agency's continued commitment to actively participate in a number of social and humanitarian activities, which boost the existing partnership between the RTA and various social cross-sections and foundations such as hospitals and health institutions.

"The campaign received a wide response from the staff from different agencies and departments where large numbers of them had swarmed into the Drivers Training Center in Al Aweer that is related to Public Transport Agency. This certainly is a conclusive evidence of the high spirit of responsibility and altruism proved by the staff of RTA, and their love for the noble and humanitarian deeds and their dedication to providing assistance to the sick and injured in hospitals, who are in dire need of every drop of blood the others grant them, said Al Dossari.

He added that doctors and scientists advise the healthy to donate blood from time to time, because it is good for themselves physically and spiritually, and a prevention of diseases and maladies they are unaware, as well as a strengthening to their immunity systems activity and making their bodies back to shape, let along what the blood donation represents as humanitarian deed, social solidarity, urgent rescue for the patient and infected by traffic accidents or who require blood during a surgery facing the loss of large amounts of blood, such as the bleeding affecting the prenatal women, in addition to the patients of blood diseases, preterm children and neonatal children down with certain diseases that require them quantities of blood and other conditions.

Al Dossari stated that the blood donation is a humanitarian action that is intended to help the sick and injured through which donor seeks God's satisfaction, as well as that this noble work is one of the ways man use towards obtaining God's recompense.

For his part, Zuhair Al Saffar, Director of the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Office at the Public Transport Agency explained that the campaign had been preceded by an awareness program the Office conducted to explain the benefits of the blood donation campaigns, which are supervised by the blood bank of the Health and Medical Services Authority in Dubai, and their significance for the donor and the beneficiaries of the sick and injured.

The donors in turn praised this kind humanitarian initiative expressing their appreciation for the tireless efforts exerted by the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Office at the Public Transport Agency and its strong commitment to apply the best practices in this vital aspect, which plays an important role in enhancing the RTA image in the community, especially with regards to the humanitarian side.
