The step accords biannual honours to the driving institute/center with the least number of offences
Dubai - United Arab Emirates: Licensing Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) recently honoured Belhasa Driving Center after it scored the least number of offences and accordingly awarded the honour of the Best Driving Institute during the first half of 2009.
"This inaugural honour accorded by Licensing Agency, which will be a regular biannual event (first half and the second half of each year), is meant to boost the joint awareness programs of the Licensing Agency and driving institutes / centers in the emirate of Dubai" said Nabeel Yousef Al Ali, Director of Monitoring & Enforcement Dep't at RTA Licensing Agency.
"The honouring process is basically geared to the number of offences reported, to the number of instructors during the designated period, to the number of suspended documents. To work out the monthly percentage the number of offences is multiplied by 100 and the product is divided by the number of instructors. Based on this formula, Belhasa Driving Center obtained the least number of offences, which was 9%.
"The aim of this recognition is to leverage the driving institutes and centers to introduce initiatives to upgrade the standard of both examiners and examinees, and increase the educational & learning sessions; which in turn will reduce the number of offences. The process will also enhance road safety users and contribute to upgrading the efficiency of training through undertaking, promulgating and uplifting the culture of safety as well as traffic awareness.
"Through this honouring process the Agency also aims at enhancing the performance and applying the best standards applicable in this regard, particularly driving rules and regulations. This warrants more concerted efforts and higher cooperation level between the Agency and the driving institutes in the public interest.
"Such honour conforms to the vision of Monitoring & Enforcement Dep't: "Effective monitoring to maintain the security & safety of road users", and translates our constant attention to enhance the role of monitoring instructors to minimize offences through cooperation with the strategic partners in highlighting the importance of complying with traffic rules; which resulted in a significant drop in the number of offences. Through this honouring process we can promote the partnership programs & related issues, discuss the programs, and sort out suitable solutions to reduce the number of offences made by instructors.
"The Agency is keen on promoting traffic culture and applying the best global standards through following up instructors, holding awareness lectures and making regular visits to driving centers. This will further advance the efforts of the Agency towards realizing the intended objectives in order to uphold the core values and standards" said Al Ali in a concluding remark.
