Dubai (United Arab Emirates): Marine Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) honoured its employees marking the first annual celebration of the Agency held in Intercontinental Hotel, at Dubai Festival City.

The event was attended by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of RTA Marine Agency, Dr. Khaled Al Zahed, Director of Marine Projects Dep't, Ahmed Al Hammadi, Director of Operation & Performance, engineer Sultan Al Khafili, Director of Registration & Licensing Dep't, and a number of section managers and employees of the Agency as well as representatives of official partners of Marine Agency.

Al Mulla opened the event by welcoming guests and Marine Agency employees. He said that this event is meant as communication link between the employees of Marine Agency and its clients. Both will team up to form one team to achieve distinction & success, and upgrade the competency of Marine Agency employees; which is doing its level best to provide optimum marine transport modes.

"Distinction and success could not come out from the blue. We have made considerable progress in a short time and what we have done is testament to our success. Yet we need to redouble our efforts to preserve what we have achieved, as sustaining success is more difficult than achieving it. Staying at the top requires gallant efforts to engage with all ways & means capable of delivering prime services to Marine Agency clients" commented Al Mulla.

He pointed out that the achievements made by the Marine Agency speak volumes but to mention a few he spoke about introducing the Water Bus, endorsing the design of the Water Taxi, starting the Pilot Operation of Abra 119 on solar energy, signing a contract with Emirates Gas to switch operation of three abras to natural gas, expanding marine transport coverage, and inaugurating the Tourist Line of the Water Bus from Al Seef Station to Al Shindaga Station and vice versa. Al Mulla also elaborated on the inauguration of three boats fitted with all rescue tools to operate in the Creek & Gulf to serve the new property projects such as the Palm Islands and The World. He added that all rowing & motorized abras as well as the Water Bus have been fitted with security & safety items such as life jackets & First Aid kits, and operators have been trained on safe driving. Recommendations were made as to construction of model stations, heritage kiosks, customer services counters and information desks.

At the end of the ceremony Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla honoured Marine Agency employees while departmental directors honoured their respective employees. A video presentation was made depicting marine transport activities, and the event witnessed some recreational breaks and games as well.
