The step is part of efforts made to further the national identity

The Roads & Transport Authority - Manal Khalid: The Women Committee, in coordination with Al-Masar magazine, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently held a series of educative lectures aimed at enhancing the writing skills in Arabic language, under the theme "Towards a better understanding of the Quran". The workshop, which lasted 4 days, targeted about 60 male and female RTA employees who were interested in acquiring the basic writing skills of the Arabic language.

According to Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of RTA Customer Service and Chairwoman of RTA Women Committee, the Committee is always keen on holding a host of diverse events and activities with the aim of improving the performance level of employees, and instilling useful values and knowledge to promote a broad range of skills. Delivering these lectures about Arabic language, she says, stems from our keen attention to keep our native language first and foremost, and marks the continuous efforts of activating the use of Arabic language between employees, particularly the writing skills. This drive echoes RTA's endeavours to promote the national identity which raises the profile of the Arabic language among employees, and steps up the Arabic linguistic knowledge in order to ensure proper and continued usage of the language.

Dr. Aysha continued: "The workshop offered a diverse means of acquiring the writing skills of the Arabic language, and how to assist those who have the raw talents to polish them through a process to have their writing abilities improved and corrected. These lectures were supervised by one of RTA experts who has an in-depth knowledge of the Arabic language; and the process is viewed in the context of a positive transition towards the sound planning of benefiting from the in-house competencies and assisting the transfer of expertise and skills to others; which is viewed a proper utilization of the human resources.

"One of the key features of these lectures is that they are oriented to employees according to their talents and aspirations and not their job grades alone, as the objective is to promote their skills and guide them through the professional practice. Many of RTA employees aspire to acquire multiple human skills and abilities which might not relate directly to their scope of work, but would contribute in the long run to improving their abilities and aptitudes through broadening their knowledge, exposure and cultures," add Dr. Aysha.

The lecture, which was overseen by Al Mutaasim Billah Mohammed, Editor-in-Chief of the RTA-published Al Masar magazine, included the importance and peculiar nature of the Arabic language compared to other languages, and how Arabs, unlike other nations which boast and stick strongly to their languages, have failed to preserve their language. The lecture gave a brief account of the key features typical to the Arabic language such as the précis, and syntax, along with the origin of grammar, rhetoric, eloquence and assonance sciences. It also highlighted the division of word, types of speech, grammatical terms, spelling, hamza, numbers, masculine and feminine.

The Director of Customer Service called on all attendants of lectures to fully utilize the valuable contents which will help them refine their skills and talents, particularly the workshop is overseen by one of the Top 50 Experts accredited in the so-called "Expert House", who is also a staff of RTA Corporate Support Services Sector, and can always be contacted.
