Roads & Transport Authority, Bus Drivers Affairs Dep't at Public Transport Agency of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently held a training session to improve the performance of several RTA bus drivers to rectify the mistakes made and improve the level of service delivered by the RTA to all members of the community.
"RTA is in constant pursuit of improving and upgrading its services in keeping with its vision of providing Safe & Smooth Transport for All, and in order to ensure that clients are safe and comfortable in using various modes of mass transportation in the Emirate of Dubai" said Mohammed Hamed bin Fahad, Director of Bus Fleet Drivers Affairs Dep't at Public Transport Agency.
"We have noticed recurrent mistakes on the part of some bus drivers and therefore decided to redress them through this training session which we believe would greatly improve their performance and uplift the caliber of services offered by Public Transport Agency to bus commuters from all community segments" stated bin Fahad.
He added that Bus Fleet Drivers' Affairs Dep't was keen on holding this training session as a tool to rectify the mistakes made by some attending drivers. The course was delivered in Arabic, English and Urdu languages; which are the common languages among bus fleet drivers at Public Transport Agency. The aim was to ensure that the intended information was effectively delivered to them in the languages they understand and speak every day.
Bin Fahad called upon bus commuters and road users to communicate with the RTA to air their views and offer suggestions and ideas that can promote the business of the RTA. He stressed the importance of public feedbacks on any negative practice related to drivers' attitudes, the way they deal with passengers and their conduct on Dubai roads.
It is note-worthy that Bus Fleet Drivers' Affairs Dep't held in 2009 intensive training sessions for drivers of public buses, including courses for novice drivers, and senior drivers plus training drivers on customer services through Transport Ambassador program in cooperation with the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA). Training also included driving of various bus types, bus routes in Dubai, operating the on-board bus systems such as Nol Card system (TVM), rehabilitating drivers involved in traffic accidents, and driving VIP buses. It also included educative programs such as No Accidents, Fire Fighting, First Aid, and Swine Flu, in addition to Job Tasks and Work Mechanism campaigns.
