CA hosts top decision makers at its Business Executive Summit to bring global best practice experiences to the region's biggest enterprises

Dubai - Computer Associates (CA), one of the world largest management software companies, recently held its Business Executive Summit at the Burj Al Arab Hotel to raise awareness for the significant business advantages that ITIL best practice processes can offer to enterprises looking to align their IT infrastructures to improve business efficiency and service delivery.  The CA Executive Summit was attended by 16 of the largest enterprise organisations from the Arab world and Pakistan.

ITIL, which stands for IT Infrastructure Library, is a set of best practice standards that enable organisations to better manage their IT environment and leverage it to achieve business goals.

"As IT environments become more and more complex, CIOs continue to struggle to align, measure and apply IT processes to improve operational excellence through IT process, quality and governance," said Bjarne Rasmussen, vice president of technology services at CA.  "By adopting ITIL standards, any enterprise organisation can bridge the gap between its IT and its business requirements to help it make the right business decisions through innovation and service delivery.  It eliminates the silos that exist within the IT environment while unifying people, processes and tools to achieve business value."

CA's Business Executive Summit was a 2-day workshop which acted as a fast-track to gaining insight on how ITIL can be applied to improve businesses.  The Summit included an interactive simulation based on the Apollo 13 flight mission and brings together participants to apply best practice processes to successfully complete the flight mission.  Through the simulation which is conducted by GameWorks BV, a leading company in the development of innovative learning tools, participants can realize the impact of ITIL and how it can be applied to a real world scenario.

Commenting on the impact of ITIL on their businesses and the experiences they gained at the CA Business Executive Summit:

"The Ministry of Interior in Qatar utilises information technology to ensure the efficient, timely delivery of services to its citizens while remaining at the forefront of innovation in alignment with the government's initiative to better leverage technology in its day to day functions," said Saleh Al Kubaisi, Director of IT Department at Qatar's Ministry of Interior.  "Through CA's Business Executive Summit, we have gained from the experiences of other organisations which have used ITIL to improve the overall delivery of services.  This is inline with the Ministry's existing initiatives."

"The CA Business Executive Summit, that PWC Logistics attended, provided a unique perspective as to how ITIL can be applied across an organisation such as PWC. The simplified approach used to highlight the importance of aligning the IT infrastructure to the business needs and growth, served as a wake-up call for all who attended the Summit," said Mohammed Ghassan Farra, CIO at PWC Logistics.  "PWC is already looking at a framework to align its own IT service management operations with its growing business needs. To that end, CA's Business Executive Summit provided a rich perspective as to how this framework can be utilised for the benefit of any organisation."
