Refinitiv partnered with Evercity, a blockchain-based platform for impact measurement and investment, to promote innovative digital financing tools that support climate Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

As part of the partnership, Refinitiv and Evercity will launch a quarterly bulletin featuring digital solutions that facilitates SDG impact finance. Evercity currently leads the Finance Workgroup for the Climate Chain Coalition (CCC), a global multi-stakeholder initiative that mobilizes finance to scale climate action. The bulletin is sponsored by the CCC and the Energy and Climate Action working groups of the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA).

“Although trillions of dollars are still required to finance effective climate actions, digital solutions will play a crucial role in providing financial support for sound global sustainability programs,” said Tom Baumann, Founder and co-chair of CCC, founding member and co-chair of INATBA Climate Action Working Group.

“The integration of digitization and impact finance will create new opportunities. The publication will help us create an engaging and insightful platform that facilitates meaningful and actionable conversations around climate protection,” Baumann added.

Alexey Shadrin, founder and CEO of Evercity, explained that the bulletin will address complex SDG challenges. “The implications of climate change are forcing us to rethink our global economic and social systems. During the COVID-19 pandemic and way before, digitalization has set a successful example in transparency and effective resource management.”

“Digitalization can bridge the global SDG financing gap by enhancing the measurement of returns to impact investors, enabling effective risk management, raising liquidity, and democratizing the market,” Shadrin noted.

“The initiative aligns with Refinitiv’s commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) leadership. During the past few years, we have seen a growing demand for ESG from investors and the broader financial community. Market players are now integrating ESG into their business operations and we are actively supporting them by offering access to data, technology and expertise,” said Antonio De Gregorio, Managing Director, Central & Eastern Europe, Refinitiv.
