Bayanat-DPS Constructs US$1 Million Network in Under Three Months
Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates
More than 700 international companies operating in the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Free Zone now have access to the world's latest communication technology, according to executives with the Free Zone who, together with leading systems integrator Bayant-DPS, have deployed a Nexans and Cisco based network.
The US$1 million project, only the second of its kind in the UAE, is based on Cisco IP telephony, and was deployed across the Free Zone's three buildings in the Emirate, as well as its satellite office in Abu Dhabi.
Engineers from Bayanat-DPS first laid Nexans fiber-optic structured cabling to 900 desktops in the Free Zone, before installing Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and management software.
"Since establishing the RAK Free Zone four years ago, we have witnessed a rapid increase in the number of business partners locating their companies with us," said Ossama El Omari, project director general, RAK Free Zone. "We wanted to provide an end-to-end communications solution that our clients could utilize from day one."
The implementation will provide users with Cisco converged technologies such as voice, internet access, and video. A local area network (LAN) will also provide remote wireless access to the network, from anywhere in the world.
The RAK Free Zone is only the second free zone in the country, after Dubai's Internet City, to deploy the cutting-edge technology. Engineers from Bayanat-DPS, a Nexans and Cisco Premier partner in the UAE, installed the solution over a 3-month period.
"Our business partners now have access to one of the most advanced IP telephony systems available," added El Omari. "This network solution will grow with us, providing 'future-proof' technology to our business partners as we expand our operations in the years ahead."
Senior managers at the RAK Free Zone evaluated a number of network vendors before opting for Nexans and Cisco. Bayant-DPS was chosen for its long history in delivering advanced network solutions across the UAE, their team of skilled engineers and commitment to a long-term partnership.
"The RAK Free Zone has provided its partners with some of the most advanced networking technology currently available in the Middle East," said Athar Moin, Branch Manager, Bayanat-DPS, Dubai. "The deployment of the Nexans and Cisco infrastructure will ensure fast, efficient and cost effective communication links for all users, as well as enable future growth for the Free Zone."
Bayanat-DPS will provide ongoing service and support to the RAK Free Zone, and will network its other buildings, once they have been completed.
