The Radisson Blu Hotel Kuwait, Rezidor's first property outside of Scandinavia, has closed its doors to undertake a major redevelopment project with completion scheduled for 2012.
The hotel, which celebrated its 30th Anniversary in December, will feature 194 rooms once completed with three new distinctive styles of decor: Naturally Cool, And Relax & NY Mansion House. The Business Class Rooms, on the third floor will offer guests additional features, such as exclusive access to the new glass-walled Sky Lounge, which will provide sweeping views over the Arabian Gulf.
The hotel will also offer 50 Business Class rooms, six Junior suites, 23 Executive suites, and one Presidential suite, which will have breathtaking views from both floors, thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass walls.
There will also be a 360sq. meter ballroom, with three adjacent chill-out rooms. The ballroom and meeting spaces, which can be divided into two, will feature the latest audiovisual equipment and the very best in conference facilities.
Throughout the renovation, the hotels current f&b and events facilities, including the Al Hashemi Grand Ballroom, 6 meeting rooms, the hotels popular restaurants-Al Boom and Rangoli- as well as the health and recreation club will all remain fully operational.

The hotel has a long and fascinating history, Mr. Kurt Ritter now CEO and President of Rezidor Hotel Group was the first GM at the hotel when it opened in 1980. The hotel has achieved many accomplishments over the years, including: Al Hashemi II, which was inaugurated in 2000 and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest wooden dhow ever built.
The Radisson Blu Hotel, Kuwait is one of two properties that Rezidor Hotel Group operates in the country. The second, the much anticipated Hotel Missoni, Kuwait will open early in 2011.
